What role will a doula play at my birth?
As a doula, I work with parents to address their unique pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum needs. My position is not to replace the care, support and role of the birth partner. I will provide support to both parents and am available to offer suggestions. My primary goal is for you to have a positive experience in which you feel confident, informed and surrounded by care, love and respect.
During laborI provide the following: • Emotional support: encouragement, reassurance, and continuous presence. • Physical support: comfort measures, positions, relaxation and techniques to help labor progress. • Education: allowing for informed choices. I will answer questions or help you get your questions answered. • Advocacy: promoting collaboration among the birth team.
