What role will a doula play at my birth?
As a doula, I work with parents to address their unique pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum needs. My position is not to replace the care, support and role of the birth partner. I will provide support to both parents and am available to offer suggestions. My primary goal is for you to have a positive experience in which you feel confident, informed and surrounded by care, love and respect.
During labor I provide the following:
• Emotional support: encouragement, reassurance, and continuous presence.
• Physical support: comfort measures, positions, relaxation and techniques to help labor progress.
• Education: allowing for informed choices. I will answer questions or help you get your questions answered.
• Advocacy: promoting collaboration among the birth team.

Services Offered:
- Free initial consultation
- 1-2 prenatal meetings (2-3 hours each) where we will discuss what to expect during labor and birth, positions and techniques to help labor progress, relaxation and comfort measures, as well as use of Rebozo, essential oils and acupressure.
- A comprehensive handout of all material covered at prenatals
- Birth Plan Design Assistance
- Lending library of books on Pregnancy, Birth, Breastfeeding and Parenting
- Phone, text and email support
- On-call 24 hours a day starting 2 weeks before mother’s due date
- Emotional and physical support and education for the birthing mother and her family
- Continuous support, during labor, at your home and/or designated birth location, as well as 2 hours after the birth, until breastfeeding is established.
- Photography during labor and birth as well as 2 hours after
- Hand edited digital images in a private online gallery for download (with Photography Services)
- Postpartum visit (2-3 hrs.) typically within the first week after birth to talk about the birth, provide lactation support, answer any questions you may have and assist at home with needs (laundry, dishes, food prep, etc.)
