Heather Hepler BA, LLLL, Certified Professional Doula & Birth Photographer
I am a wife and mother of three with over 10 years of experience in educating and supporting mothers in breastfeeding, childbirth and nutrition. I am a La Leche League Leader, ToLabor Certified Professional Doula, and Birth Photographer.
My husband and I took Bradley Method Childbirth classes during our first pregnancy and although we felt prepared for labor, my first two children were born by cesarean. We learned a lot through those births; we continued to educate ourselves and with a knowledgeable and supportive birth team for our third birth we were able to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).
Recovery after my cesareans was challenging and I wanted to be able to focus on taking care of my new baby. Having a vaginal birth the third time around was such a blessing and it is my hope that other mothers will have the opportunity to experience their own vaginal birth.
My own experiences and struggles have really given me a passion to help other parents create the best opportunity for a successful natural childbirth. It is my goal to help each family understand their options, to create a loving and supportive environment where both parents feel that their desires are being heard and respected, and to provide encouragement and evidence-based information along the way.

"The level of commitment of Heather is unsurpassed. She encompasses the personality traits, knowledge base, wisdom and experience needed to be the role of labor assistant. I felt like she was my stronghold, guide and partner through my labor process. Her support enabled my husband to play a more active role than in my previous birth and her countenance brought a peace that filled the stressful situation, room and me. Her desire to be continually learning brought me great success through her knowledge base with essential oils and labor tools such as the rebozo. She is innovative using a gardening pad for my knees. Along with her knowledge base she is aware of resources and is able to call them to mind in the stress of the situation. Spinning Babies helped me to birth my son naturally though the threat of a cesarean when he was posterior. Heather is perceptive, picking up on needs during labor such as pulling out scriptures during a stressful time of the labor. She was always aware of each contraction and prepared to position herself however necessary to apply counter pressure or some other form of labor support. Heather's personality and the way she interacted with the hospital staff had them asking her questions, learning from her and listening to her requests. Heather is a wise and trusted doula. She was one of the first people to know about my pregnancy as I wanted to ensure her presence. I am forever grateful for the role she played in my labor/delivery and I would not want to labor in the future without her." Shannon
"Heather was my doula for the birth of my second child at Baby & Co. in Charlotte. I was so thankful to have her there - for suggestions before I went into labor, for support (and photos!) during and after labor, and for checking in on us after my daughter was born. Heather's presence is very calming and helped me (and my husband) to make it through some very intense contractions. She stayed with us for a while after the birth and got pictures of our 18-month-old son meeting his sister for the first time. She came to our house a week later to see how we were doing and help with some things we needed to get done. She went above and beyond all our expectations of her. I would love to have Heather with me during my next birth." Mandi
"I just used Heather for the birth of my first child and she was amazing. Her pre and post labor sessions were very helpful and informative. She was very committed to helping me have the labor that I wanted, and even though I had a very long labor she was there the whole time supporting my husband and me. Originally I was mostly just interested in the birth coaching aspects of her services and saw the photography she offered as a bonus. However, her pictures far exceeded my expectations and I am so thankful to have them. She captured my baby's birth beautifully. I highly recommend Heather's services!" Tara
"I cannot rave enough about Heather and her doula services. Heather is a longtime friend and she attended my past two births. Heather provides a full service doula experience. She really takes her time explaining birth, nutrition, coping techniques and much more at her pre birth home visits. She has a wealth of knowledge on birth, breastfeeding, nutrition, essential oils helpful in labor and delivery, birthing techniques and positions, use of a rebozo in pregnancy and photography. She is loving and warm, with a gentle touch. She works hard during a birth, constantly tending to the mother and there as long as you need her. She comes armed with an arsenal of supplies and is ready for anything. Her photography session is the cherry on top of the cake. Her pictures of my newborn are precious, a treasure to have. I've never had a birth documented like that. I can't imagine giving birth without Heather at my side and whole heartedly recommend her to any first time or veteran mom. This was my fifth child. Also, she does a really thorough follow up visit and even helps you around the house! It was helpful to talk to someone with an outward perspective about the birth to both remember details and help process the experience." Priscilla
