I am a wife and mother of three with over 10 years of experience in educating and supporting parents in breastfeeding, childbirth and nutrition. I have been working with families as a La Leche League Leader for the last 15 years, providing lactation support and education. I am a ToLabor Certified Professional Doula, and Birth Photographer.
My own birth experiences and struggles have really given me a passion to help families create the best opportunity for a successful natural childbirth. My husband and I took Bradley Method Childbirth classes during our first pregnancy and although we felt prepared for labor, my first two little ones were born by cesarean. Recovery after my cesareans was challenging and I really wanted to be able to focus on taking care of my new baby. I learned a lot through those births and we continued to educate ourselves in the years to come. With a knowledgeable and supportive midwife and doula for our third birth, we were able to have a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). Being able to have a vaginal birth the third time around was such a blessing to me and I wanted to be able to give other families the amazing support I experienced during that birth, so in 2013 I pursued my doula training and certification. It's my hope to give parents the tools they need to feel informed and supported throughout their labor and birth experience and to provide hands-on support through comfort measures, counter pressure, massage, rebozo, acupressure and Spinning Babies techniques. It is my goal to help each family understand their options and to create a loving and supportive environment where parents feel that their desires are being heard and respected, and to provide encouragement and evidence-based information along the way. |
